Historic Event at The White House
In 2018, I became friends with Frederick Douglass’ great-great-great grandson. After meeting for dinner, we decided to work together to unite the descendants of the most iconic civil rights leaders. These descendant families had never come together in one place for all of history. And some of them had never spoken. After a long effort, during Black History Month of 2024, we brought together the descendants families in Washington D.C. for the first time in the entire history of The United States of American.
While the families were in D.C., they enjoyed a private tour of The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History & Culture (while it was close to the general public), a private tour of The Capitol Building, a private event at The White House and additional special, private events throughout our national capitol. Those historic 3 days in D.C. were covered by several dozen publications. Each family left with an Official Presidential Proclamation Letter and memories to last a lifetime.
